Off Broadway is one of Rosco's most popular scenic paints. A palette of rich, flat theatrical colors in a flexible vinyl acrylic binder makes Off Broadway paint perfect for almost any scenic or artistic application. Off Broadway can be used straight out of the can or diluted with water. Off Broadway can be used on many popular substrates used in stagecraft including muslin, wood, metals, wallboard and many plastics.


Off Broadway is compatible with all other Rosco Scenic Paints.

Dilution: May be used straight out of the can or diluted with water, Rosco Clear Acrylic Glaze or a combination of the two. Diluting will reduce the color concentration and create "glaze" effects. Diluting with more than 2 parts water may reduce binder strength. Add Rosco Clear Acrylic Glaze to restore adhesion and flexibility.


Surface Preparation: Surfaces should be clean, dry and free from dirt and grease. Prime porous surfaces, except fabric, using Rosco Tough Prime. If painting a new plaster surface, prime wall with a commercial primer/sealer designed for raw plaster. Then use Rosco Tough Prime as a final preparation.


Application:  Stir contents well before each use. Do not shake. Apply by brush, roller or spray gun. Apply in thin, even coats, using a good quality brush or roller. Use overlapping strokes, keeping a wet edge. Change roller direction often to avoid patterns and streaking.


Film Thickness: 2 mil. Dry Film.


Coverage: Approximately 300 sq. ft. per gallon (28 sq. m per 3.79L), depending on substrate, application tool and film thickness.


Avg. Dry Time: At 75°F (24°C), dries to the touch in approximately 30-45 minutes. Can be recoated in 1-2 hours.


Clean-up: Soap and water.


Shelf Life: Minimum shelf life for unopened, sealed paint is approximately 24 months when stored in a temperature controlled location.

  • What is the difference between Fluorescent and VividFx paint?

    These product lines feature vibrant colours and are made with a vinyl acrylic binder, creating ideal adhesion and flexibility. The difference between these product lines is the pigment load in each can. VividFx has a higher pigment load.


  • Can I mix Fluorescent with VividFx?

    Yes, the binders used in both Rosco paint lines are compatible and mix well. You may also use both product lines with our scenic paint product line, which can add extra vibrance to those colours.

  • Does Fluorescent paint glow under UV lights?

    Our Fluorescent line of paints will glow vividly under UV lights, allowing artists and stage managers to create a unique effect for their projects.

 

What is the shelf life of Rosco off broadway paint?  The minimum shelf life of the Rosco off broadway line of products is 24 months. This shelf life assumes the paint is sealed, unopened, and stored in a temperature-controlled area that avoids temperature extremes.


What materials are suitable for Rosco paints? You may use any of our paints on fabric or wood. Our Off Broadway and Supersaturated paint can be used on metal. Our Supersaturated paints can be used on plastic.


When should I use Off Broadway paints? Off Broadway paints are economical and easy-to-use acrylic paint that adheres to most scenic surfaces. This line of paints was designed to be used right out of the bucket, but it may also be diluted if necessary.
